Senior Tech and Business Professional Joins Latinitas Board
Latinitas is excited to welcome Marissa, a senior technology and business professional with over 15+ years of experience in multiple areas of expertise such as cybersecurity, IT, finance and accounting, and strategic planning. She is passionate about introducing and increasing the number of Latinx youth pursuing STEM fields. She graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Georgia State University.
Marissa is currently working at Vrbo, as a Sr. Risk and Compliance Analyst, where she created, implemented, and delivered the first time SOC1 report compliance program 1 month ahead of schedule, lead, created, and implemented the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Program and frameworks, as well as Cloud Control framework alignments, and also organizes, and coordinates governance and compliance for various technology areas while managing external auditory relationships for the company. She is also Treasurer and a lead of Latin@s at Vrbo, and is a part of various organizations such as Latinos in Tech Austin, Women in CyberSecurity (WiCys), and a committee lead with Women in Tech at Vrbo, that helps provide participation and volunteer support to Latinitas.
Outside of work, she loves to showcase her personal artwork, upcycle old furniture, writing, and reading.

In your opinion, what are the most important issues facing Latina youth today?
Rising unemployment rates amongst Latinas, thereby diminishing their future prospects, not having the necessary skill set to succeed in the growing tech sectors, and not knowing how to navigate getting into college or what to expect in college as first-generation college attendees.
What is your main interest and/or motivation for serving on the Latinitas Board?
To contribute in helping young Latina/os know the opportunities they have available to them, help grow & continue the outstanding work & reach of this organization, help increase the numbers of Latina/os in STEM fields, and promote & advocate for the organization and expand exposure & support.
