Long-Time Volunteer and Startup Chica 2019 Committee Member Joins Latinitas Board
Bianca, a Houston-native, grew up in a tight-knit bilingual Mexican family. Because of her personal upbringing, she has made it her goal to pursue experiences where she can serve her Latinx community. She eventually moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she graduated in 2015 with a B.B.A. in Supply Chain Management and a B.A. in Hispanic Studies.
Bianca now works at IBM as a Packaged Software Procurement License Review Team Lead, where she is responsible for the purchasing of packaged software, ensures that IBM has the proper licensing agreements, and helps manage relationships with vendors. Bianca is also co-chair of IBM’s Hispanics in Partnership (HIP) Business Resource Group, where she has led planning of site events with up to 500 participants, led marketing efforts, and created its programming.
Bianca has been a long term Latinitas volunteer, and has recently served as a member of the 2019 Startup Chica Committee. We are excited to welcome Bianca to the Latinitas Board, where her various skills in accounting, strategic planning, and analytical skills will help move Latinitas forward in accomplishing our mission.
Outside of work, Bianca enjoys dancing, cooking, occasionally playing tennis, travelling, hiking, and watching films.

In your opinion, what are the most important issues facing Latina youth today?
Latina youth face a dichotomy in culture. Most come from a family that wants the best for them but can be oppressive due to lack of knowledge. They face negative stereotypes, low representation in media, and lack a network that exposes them to the endless world of possibilities, careers, and dreams. They face a lack of resources to enable them to pursue the dreams they do have.
What is your main interest and/or motivation for serving on the Latinitas Board?
I believe in the Latinitas mission and vision. I too want to empower girls and create leaders. I believe that education is the path to reduce many of society’s problems: underrepresentation, pay inequality, poverty and more. I want to be part of an organization that develops girls to become the leaders our world needs. I believe that change starts at home. Austin is my home and I want to put my grain of sand forward to create a positive impact. I think Latinitas does a great job of motivating girls to pursue their dreams, and aspire to things they’d never thought of. I want to help inspire them and create positive change.
