There is no doubt that tacos are one of life’s best treasures. Whether it’s breakfast tacos or some delicious tacos de pastor, nothing beats them! To celebrate all that is tacos on National Taco Day, our wonderful staff put together of list of their favorite taquerias in Austin and El Paso, Texas!
Austin:
Tyson’s Tacos — Open 24 hours, this taco joint is making delicious tacos that they describe as “authentically Austin.” Our staff recommends you try their Pork belly taco with fried parsley and mandarin orange!
Veracruz All Natural — One of the best known taquerias in Austin, Veracruz All Natural serves tacos and tortas made with fresh ingredients! We highly recommend you try their Migas taco, which was named one of Food Network’s Top 5 Best Tacos in America!
Las Trancas — If you are interested in some street-style Mexican tacos, look no further! Las Trancas serves delicious traditional tacos, including tacos de lengua, buche, and tripas, as well as some classics such as their tacos de asada and pastor.
El Tacorrido—Open until 3 am in their North Austin location, this taqueria is serving some of the best tacos in the city of Austin. Our Program Director, Sylvia Butanda, recommends getting an order of tacos de bisteck, al pastor, and carnitas with everything (lime, cilantro, cotija cheese, onions and spicy green salsa).
Taqueria Chilanga — Located on East Cesar Chavez and Pleasant Valley, Taqueria Chilanga serves some of the best authentic tacos in the city!
Taco Shack — With several locations around the Austin area, the Taco Shack has been selling delicious tacos since 1996. Our staff recommends you try the El Niño Taco, a taco filled with beans, chorizo, cheese, and jalapeños.
El Paso:
Valentines Truck — Located inside the Love Buzz Bar, this is truck is serving delicious tacos at an awesome location.
Tacos Chinampa — These delicious tacos are available in three different locations around El Paso. Serving tacos and other Mexican food specialities, Tacos Chinampa is a place you need to check out! Stop by on a Tuesday for 2-for-1 tacos Al Pastor.
Tacos Don Cuco — With several locations across El Paso, Tacos Don Cuco serves some of the best and most affordable tacos in town!
El Cometa — Originally started in Juarez, Chihuahua, El Cometa has some of the best tacos and flautas in the city!
Tacos Santa Cecilia — Serving tacos to the Juarez and El Paso area since the 1980s, Tacos Santa Cecilia serves some of the best tacos Al Pastor in the city!
Carlos and Mickey’s — Serving more Tex Mex-style tacos, Carlos and Mickeys brings a unique twist to El Paso’s traditional Mexican tacos.
Chicos Tacos — An El Paso staple for over 60 years, Chicos Tacos serves delicious rolled tacos smothered in their signature tomato sauce.
