Latinitas Spring Mentor Program Spotlight: Pamela J. Castelán

Latinitas’ Alumni Mentor Program is dedicated to providing Latinitas alum, like Pamela J. Castelán, with professional and academic guidance through the use of a mentor who shares similar backgrounds, experiences, and interests. Pamela joined the program and was mentored by Jessica Salinas, Program Manager at Cloudera, who Pamela says was a perfect match as a Mentor and was very understanding of her goals. Pamela’s experience was truly valuable and encourages other Latinitas Alumni to join the program.

What was your experience like as a mentee?
This mentor program was really refreshing and motivational career-wise. My mentor, Jessica, offered a lot of valuable and constructive information that helped me better understand my goals and ways to tackle them.

What is the biggest takeaway you’ll have from this experience?
I guess it would be that there’s no rush or pressure to be a fully formed young professional, there’s room and time to decide what to do and to grow within your skills and knowledge.

Why should others be a part of this Mentor Program?
Others should be part of the program, because I do think it’s very beneficial and helpful, I really do feel like I was mentored.
