Sam Morales, a Healthcare Recruiter for St. David’s Healthcare, is another one of Latinitas’ newest board members. With 10 years of experience in project management and workforce advancement, his professional initiative and leadership has helped build partnerships with community and educational institutions in Austin. He has devoted his time and expertise to nonprofit organizations such as Goodwill, where he has coordinated resources for their job-readiness and healthcare programs. Currently, Sam plays an integral role in the recruitment process for St. David’s through marketing, coordinating job fairs, and accumulating resources for the new hire process.
What makes Latinitas’ mission meaningful to you?
At the core, Latinitas is about empowerment. It is about giving our young Latinas the skills and tools to tackle an ever-changing world through technology as well as self-expression. I believe Latinitas is literally working to help shape the future and redefine our culture.
What knowledge and skills do you feel you bring to the board?
I have alway enjoyed a challenge and am excited to help lead such an innovative organization as Latinitas. I have almost a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector working in a variety of roles and just recently finished graduate business school at Texas State University. I am excited to bring my passion for community service and a fresh business perspective to the team.
What motivates you?
Achieving the unexpected has always been a driving force in my life. I came from humble beginnings and very little resources growing up. I have always seen myself as an underdog and enjoy sharing my family’s story to help inspire others. I love the idea of working hard to achieve your goals regardless of your circumstances.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I am the first in my family to graduate from college and go on to complete a graduate program. I am a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University. I love to give back to the community and regularly volunteer for the Hispanic Austin Leadership program through the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
