Latinitas’ First Engagement Manager Eats, Breathes, and Sleeps Millennial Giving:
Bailey Pownall Joins Latinitas As Engagement Manager
What you first notice about Bailey Pownall is that he is easy to talk to. He’s a person with a variety of interests such as community action, politics, art, and connecting cultures, making it easy to find common ground with most. That is why Latinitas is excited to announce Bailey’s joining the Latinitas staff team as its new Engagement Manager. After years working in programs that focused on tutoring and workforce development, as well as founding his own nonprofit that created a successful formula for increased millennial giving, Bailey will be using that acumen to handle the day to day duties of volunteer management and coordination, but with a twist: he will be working on how that all ties into Latinitas development ecosystem.
“I met Bailey over 10 years ago when he began Honeycomb. He asked me to speak about starting a nonprofit and I was incredibly impressed at the size of the team he had mobilized, the platforms and donations he had already started accessing and his passion for matching his generation with social good,” said Latinitas CEO Laura Donnelly. “We are pumped to have him bring that to the table at Latinitas.”
An Austin native, Bailey knew from an early age that he wanted to help people and began volunteering at organizations throughout Austin such as Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Caritas, and El Buen Samaritano, where he gained valuable experience that greatly contributed to his growing passion for working with nonprofits. He studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio and “loves the vibe there.” After graduation, Bailey joined the team at Goodwill San Antonio in collaboration with the Department of Labor and The Texas Workforce Commission on the Career Advancement Pathways program, where they designed an education and workforce pipeline for inmates leaving federal prison. In his free time, Bailey is exuberant about Austin’s young art scene and loves politics on all levels. A “Latinito,” when Bailey is not working at Latinitas you can find him enjoying the company of friends and family, playing with his beloved Australian Shepherd named June, and supporting his local artist friends.
